Natural Sleep Remedies - What really
works?
I have just discovered one of the most
incredible natural sleep remedies. Although
I generally sleep fairly well, there are spells when I can't
get to sleep easily or sleep restlessly or wake up in the
middle of the night and can't fall back asleep... you get
the idea.
I crash and burn after even just one night
of poor sleep. I turn into a zombie and can't function well
at all after only a couple of nights of not sleeping well.
I need my sleep!
I don't use over-the-counter sleep aids
(or prescription sleep aids) because of the severe and health-robbing
side effects. Unfortunately, tens of millions of Americans
do use these as a "solution" to getting some shut-eye,
but the price paid in destroyed health outweighs any benefit.
So how can we solve this problem? Well,
one of the natural sleep remedies that I've used when I
can't fall asleep is melatonin
- and sleep does come naturally shortly after I've had a
cup of melatonin tea.
Melatonin is actually a hormone that the
body produces that regulates the awake/sleep cycle. Environmental
factors, poor nutrition and stress can all reduce the production
of melatonin, causing sleep to be disrupted.
The
importance of sleep to physical and
emotional health is a primary factor. During sleep, the
body repairs, regenerates and rejuvenates itself. Regular,
good sleep is part of living a healthy lifestyle.

Sleep
is one of the four essential factors involved in enjoying
good health and energy. Time after time I've personally
experienced this! If I can't get good sleep, all the good

activity I've given to my body is defeated (although
those are also "natural sleep aids" and are important
in learning how to sleep
better.) Without good sleep, we create even more stress
for out bodies and emotional well-being.
