Living a healthy lifestyle means first managing stress

I'll try to paint you a picture of my concept of a healthy lifestyle - a "healthy lifestyle" meaning "living life in a way that promotes physical and mental well-being."

The most important thing to me is handling stress. Insane amounts of unhandled stress led to a stroke and a heart attack several years ago and since I'm not interested in making that mistake again, I manage stress by identifying and weeding out negativity as much as possible. I also manage stress by doing things that are fun and enjoyable in a relaxing way more often.

The enjoyment of reading a book for pleasure, having Saturday nights for a movie at home with my hubby, taking a bit more time to snuggle with my cat instead of trying to get him off my desk when I'm working are aspects of my healthy lifestyle.

I choose more nutritious food now and eat low-carb to manage my blood sugars better and lose weight, which has been successful since I want to be comfortable physically to enjoy my life. Learning what's toxic to my body and helping it detoxify itself is key for me.

I don't have any plans to enter a marathon, that's not a part of what I consider a healthy lifestyle for me... but I certainly want to be able to take a nature walk or take a bike ride along the beach! I get regular exercise in the form of mini trampoline exercise, that helps my body do more of what I want it to be able to do.

Balancing these activities with my two businesses and feeling good about my life is my idea of living a healthy lifestyle!

Thank you Rowdy! I figure I'm not the only one who's had stress mess up their health - even if you don't smoke and eat 5 apples a day, if you have a lot of unmanaged stress, it defeats the purpose!

Great article on living healthy! I too think that stress is one of the biggest factors to handle if you want to get healthy or have continued good health. Nice job BB and I hope many people read your article as this type of info can help many people live a healthy and happy life!!
