List of acidic foods & an alkaline foods list:
What
acidic and alkaline foods are and how they affect physical
health
Having a list
of acidic foods and an alkaline foods list will help you
make informed choices if you want to improve your health
by balancing the pH of your body.
The pH
of the human body is
balanced when the amounts of acidity and alkalinity
are fairly equal - around 7
on the ph scale. The pH balance of the body is constantly
changing - several factors, including metabolism, affect
the pH balance of the human body.
We are referring to the pH of the fluids surrounding
the cells and tissues of the body. Blood pH is rigidly
controlled and uses resources from other parts of the
body to maintain it in a very tight range.
Acidic and alkaline foods
What we eat and drink directly
affects the pH balance of the human body.
Red meats, fats, and sugars are on the have an acid
effect on pH, and fruits, vegetables, and
whole
grains for example, are alkalizing.
It is not the pH of the undigested
food itself that determines whether it is alkaline
or acidic to the body.
It is the pH of digested and assimilated food and drink
(called "ash") that matters.
For example, lemons themselves are acidic. But once
lemon is digested, the pH is very alkaline as a result.
It is recommended that 80% of your foods come from the
alkaline foods list, and 20% from the list of acidic
foods. Remember, the goal is to balance pH, not to cut
out all foods that have an acidic effect on the body!
That could be just as unhealthy!
The following resource lists
both acidic and alkaline foods and is the
most comprehensive list of acidic foods and
an alkaline foods list I've found, categorized in a
couple of different very useful ways:

definition (in plain English!)

health!
