Improve bone strength and density

by Pamela M.
(London)

Hi,
I have osteoporosis and osteoarthritis - yup my bones ain't great. I know if I do weight bearing exercise I can improve the osteoporosis but weight bearing hurts the arthritic joints. But the treatment for the arthritic joints (surgical) demands strong bones. Ho hum!

At the moment my exercise is short but regular walks (I can do about a mile) and cycling on a static bike for about 10 mins. Any more and I get a very swollen knee and it's out with the pack of frozen peas. I'd like to push it up a stage and if anyone here can suggest something I'd be very interested to hear from you.

Thanks for this interesting site.

Pamela

Hi Pamela!

Thank you so much for your contribution! I've personally found weight bearing exercises and resistance exercises - both being strength training - to contribute immensely to improving my health and energy. And a little strength training goes a very long way.

Are you familiar at all with what pH of the body means and how it affects health? It affects the entire body - and an out-of-whack body pH can contribute to weak bones and arthritic joints.

You can find the basic information here on this pH definition page.

We really can achieve our health goals when we have the right data to apply to get there :) My sincere wishes for your success!

Oh, and I think that's a great use for a bag of frozen peas. Far better than actually eating them! Heh heh heh...

Cheers,
BB
