Health improvement, fitness and self-confidence

Hi, I am vinoth antonyraj. I am 17 years old, but still I don't have a fit body and I am also short statured. I feel very frustrated when I go along with my friends as they are taller than me and they are physically fit. I need some useful health tips to improve my health. Please guide me.

Thank you very much for your question. I really understand the feeling of frustration about health and physical fitness! I am short-statured myself and used to worry about it when I was a teen also. But now I see that I was wasting my time worrying about something I had no control over. I focus my attention on those things that I actually can improve :)

Here's some information for your consideration:


  1. Proper nutrition and adequate sleep are essential to the body's health. Especially for teens; your body is trying to grow and mature and it must have both good nutrition and sleep in order to do that.

  2. Focus your efforts on things you CAN do something about, such as eating well, getting moderate, regular physical activity and getting enough sleep. This whole site is devoted to providing useful information on these basics. You should start with learning about healthy eating, which is actually eating that promotes a balanced body pH.


    If you keep your attention on the desire to be taller, something you cannot directly control, you won't be able to enjoy success and happiness. That will cause continued frustration! By putting your energies into things you CAN improve, you will start to enjoy living more and reduce stress!


  3. Keep it simple! With school and your social life and everything else you do, work on one health improvement activity at a time, starting with what good nutrition is and incorporating it into your lifestyle. Maybe pick a time each week that you'll use for learning more and more about health basics and incorporating them into your individual lifestyle.
