get motivated to continue my weight loss regime and improve diabetes control

The difficulties I have are the food I can't resist :) I need more willpower and stimulation and support.



Hi Maria,
Thank you for sharing your health goals. I've sure been in the same situation. What has really helped me is first, I do not focus on the feeling that I've failed somehow because I'm not following a health program anymore.

I take each day as a brand new start, like I've just begun and today is the first day of a successful journey.

I also never tell myself "I can't have this or that" especially if it's something I love... I've learned to enjoy much smaller and less frequent amounts of say, processed foods or foods with less nutrition.

For example, 95% of the time I'll "pass" on a doughnut, but I do not deny myself one if overall I've been eating healthy, nutritious food. I think "willpower" can be developed better this way.

I actually prefer to call it self-discipline and continue working towards better self-discipline. I don't view it as an "all or nothing" issue. Self-discipline is a "more or less" thing that changes!

To get myself motivated, I look at what little step forward I can do TODAY that's really real to me - and then I do it and that starts the motivation ball rolling.
