Food, Nutrition and Health
What's the relationship between
food, nutrition and health? Well, they are all very closely
related! The food that we eat can contain either good nutrition
or none at all. The quality of nutrition that we provide
to the body has a direct impact on health.
If improving your health is one
of your goals, educating yourself about nutrition is one
of the first steps you can take. The primary factors
that affect health are:
Learning the basics about food,
nutrition and health will give you the understanding and
the ability to make well-informed decisions about what you
choose to eat.
The article on "Nutrition
Data" explains what nutrition is and the purpose
of nutrition.
"The
Nutrition of Foods" explains that food breaks
down into the nutrients that your body requires to function.
These nutrients are:
Although we don't usually think of water
as a nutrient, it is actually vital to your health. We'd
croak if we didn't have any! The article on the health
benefit of water describes why water is so
essential to your body and improving your health.
A nutrition
fact label is found on all processed foods
and has information that you can use to make informed choices
about food and nutrition for health. It's especially useful
once you you are aware of the different nutrients and how
your body uses them.
Your body's pH is primarily a result of
the kinds of food that you eat. If you want to find out
what pH is and how you can use it as a tool to monitor your
health, the article called "What
the heck is pH?" will help.
With all the confusing and often
misleading information about food. nutrition and health
floating around, understanding the basics will help you
sort out the valid data from the hype!
I saw a commercial the other day that
is a perfect example of being able to spot false nutritional
data. It was a commercial for a doughnut company and it
portrayed a lot of people engaged in various activities.
The message was "We keep America running!"
Oy! After I scraped my jaw off the floor,
I started laughing. The idea that doughnuts and coffee contain
the nutrition that a body needs to keep running is completely
nuts! Factually, doughnuts are "junk food," having a lot
of calories but virtually no nutritional value.
Sure, enjoy a doughnut occasionally, but
having a doughnut and coffee every day for breakfast will
not give your body the nutrition that it needs to keep running!
When you've learned about the
true relationship of food and nutrition to health, you won't
believe false nutriton data like this that some
ignorant advertising agency thought up just to sell you
a freakin' doughnut!
The next step is putting the knowledge
about nutrition that you've gained into use. Wouldn't it
be great to have a personal
nutrition guide??
How about a well-respected registered
dietician with 15 years of exerperience helping people choose
the best diet for their preferences and lifestyle? Meet
nutritionist Suzette Barancik by following the personal
nutrition guide link above and take the next step toward
improving your health and energy!
Enjoy your journey to better understanding
of food, nutrition and health. I sincerely hope some of
this information helps you achieve a greater level of health
and happiness!
Cheers!
