Exercise and weight loss

I detest gym. I walk 4 times per week - 10kms (about 6 miles) each trip... in about 75 minutes. Now I've started on my trampoline and am enjoying every second - 20 mins every day. Will I lose weight and after how long?



Hi Cyndi,

Healthy weight loss is not just a matter of eating less and exercising more despite the abundance of information claiming that's all you have to do! If that were true we'd all be skinny! And there's no need to go to a gym unless you like it.

Exercise improves your health in numerous ways - and I'm not saying that it won't help you lose weight! If you continue doing that much exercise, your body will love you because it's getting healthier if you're also eating healthy food.

But there's no telling how much weight you could lose, if any by that much exercise because weight loss doesn't depend on exercise alone.

If you want to know what your body needs to actually lose weight and be healthy, I've added a new section to this site on Healthy Weight Loss Tips that'll get you going in the right direction. The type of foods you eat and the type of exercise you do plays an important role.

I've lost over 30 pounds - and I can't even physically do the amount of exercise you're doing!
