Common New Year Resolutions Do you make them year
after year?
Some of
the most common new year resolutions that people make year
after year have to do with health and fitness.
How many
times have you made one of these top new years resolutions?
Lose weight
Improve your health
Get more exercise
Quit smoking
Eat healhier
I used to make New Year's eve resolutions, proclaiming
with great intensity that THIS year, I'd lose weight
and get healthier come hell or high water! I'd grit my
teeth with determination and swear that I'd exercise
intensely EVERY DAY and only have salad and water!
And then I'd exert a tremendous amount
of effort towards achieving my health resolutions,
burn out really
fast and give up until the next new year came along...
Sound familiar? Isn't it funny how
new year's resolutions generally happen that way? Eventually,
I didn't even bother to make any of those kind of top
new year's resolutions because I had failed so many
times in achieving those goals!
Why do we make these common new
year resolutions year
after year? I don't believe it's for a lack of really
wanting to or laziness.
Let's look at it this way. If
we know how to do something effectively, then we can
actually do it. When it comes to improving health
and fitness, there is sooooo much unrealistic and false
information that using it to try and improve our health
results in failure.
So one of the most important
things we need to keep a health resolution is a successful
method
to
use in
achieving our health goals!
Insanity:
Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting
different results. ~Albert Einstein
For example, one of the most popular
new years resolutions is "to lose weight." How
many people make that resolution and then vow to get
tons of exercise and eat only twigs and berries or cabbage
soup? Hell, that never worked for me!
And I've never met anyone else who
lost weight successfully with that method either. Millions
of people still believe that losing weight is only a
matter of less calories in and more calories out. Not
true. If it were, we'd all be skinny right??
So it's vital to learn effective ways to improve our
health instead of spinning our wheels trying to achieve
a goal with an ineffective method. So you can stop kicking
yourself in the head!
Once you learn how to do something
successfully that will actually get results, you can
make realistic plans to achieve your goals.
You CAN achieve your health improvement
goals , even common new year resolutions! Let's
do it together.
Cheers,
BB
