Body Image

How does health and fitness can uphold our image?
Thank you for your question Fatin. This is a matter of opinion, not physical fact, so I'll give my personal view on your question!
First, what is meant by "image?" The word has several definitions, including:
- a physical likeness or representation of a person, animal, or thing, photographed, painted, sculptured, or otherwise made visible.
- a mental representation; idea; conception
I believe your question deals with the image of a person that either you yourself or other people have in their minds (per definition 2).
The ideas and concepts that we have about ourselves and others' physical appearance (the "image" we have of ourselves and others) are sometimes greatly different than what is simply there.
So the way that the level of personal health and fitness for any person affects image is dependent on how each person views other people. In other words, the answer is "it depends."
With all that said, let's assume that working for good health and fitness is a desirable activity for ourselves and that people in general agree that being as healthy and fit that one can be is a desirable thing.
How do you feel about yourself when you are taking care of your body? How do you feel about other people who you see are doing their best to take care of their bodies?
And further, how do you feel when you (or others) are taking care of their health for their own personal benefit, or just trying to be healthy because they want other people to approve of them?
These are questions most people can ask of themselves regarding their own personal health and fitness. Health and fitness is first and foremost something that an individual addresses for himself to increase his own personal survival!
Sincerely,
BB
