15 Fat Burning
Foods...
and why they burn fat!
I know
that these 15 fat burning foods help the body burn fat
because I eat them and I continue to burn fat and lose
weight!
I'm going to tell you precisely
why these foods help your body burn fat. It's not rocket science once you
learn why they help - and if you don't like some of these
foods, you'll have the secret to choosing other fat burning
foods because you'll know what you're looking for!
The body uses 2 nutrients for
fuel to create energy: Carbohydrate and fat. Carbohydrates
in food are the "fast
acting" source of fuel and are burned first. Fat
is also used for energy production
but is used after available
carbohydrate is burned.
In order for the body
to burn fat, consuming foods that are low in
carbohydrate is the "secret."
Consuming
plenty of veggies and small amounts of whole grain foods
provide the carbohydrate the body needs - plus a ton
of nutrients that the body
requires in order
to
function
-
including burning fat! Check out this article on vegetable
nutrition facts to learn how they contribute to improving
health and weight.
"Low carbohydrate" does not mean "low
fat" and in fact, there are 3 main types
of dietary fat that are essential to health and weight loss! Just
one of the 15 fat burning foods is avocado for example.
Many people working towards losing weight avoid avocado
(and butter and cheese for example) because of the fat
content. But the myth that fat is bad and fattening is
finally giving way to the truth about how fat relates
to health and successful weight loss. The body also uses
fat for other purposes which are essential to good health.
Fat also keeps hunger away and other nasty side effects
of "diets" that don't work!
Not only am I losing weight by eating these
foods, my overall health, including cholesterol numbers
and blood
sugar control continue to improve. As a matter of fact,
my doctor told me recently that my cholesterol is fine
:)
Here are 15 fat burning
foods that
I personally enjoy:
(For best results, try to get organic.)
- Cheeses, including:
- Cream cheese
- Cottage cheese
- String cheese
- Butter
- Half and half
(but rarely milk of any kind because of the carbohydrate
in the form of milk sugar, or lactose)
- Eggs
- Whole soy bean products (not soy isolates)
- Nuts
- Whole soy bean foods
- Steak (and it doesn't have to be a lean cut!)
- Chicken
- Fish
- All types of vegetables, which I primarily juice because
of all the benefits
of juicing vegetables.
Vegetables help the body burn fat not
because they're low calorie, but because they provide
essential vitamins, minerals and enzymes that are needed
for metabolism. Vegetable
nutrition facts include helping
the body's metabolism work more efficiently.
But I do like to lightly steam veggies
like
broccoli, cauliflower, green beans and zucchini and then put a slab of real
butter on them... oooo yummm! I also enjoy noshing on celery
with peanut butter or cream cheese, knowing that I'm burning fat for fuel by
eating these foods!
- Stevia
sweetener instead of
refined sugar or artificial sweeteners, which actually
mess up your metabolism and contribute to weight gain!
I keep my fruit consumption pretty
low because fruit
has a lot of carbohydrate in the form of fructose.
Yes, fruit is very healthy, it just needs to be eaten
less frequently and in smaller amounts plus replaced
with more vegetables if you want to lose weight.
I particularly like apples
because they digest slowly and have lots of fiber,
which is very important to health because of its role
in body
cleansing and detoxification.
So this outline of 15 fat burning
foods gives you an example of foods that have little
to no carbohydrate. The key to choosing food to lose
weight is eating a greater percentage of these foods
and minimizing food with a great deal of
carbohydrate.
Cheers,
BB
